AN AGE OLD EXPRESSION - October 16, 2017

"He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas"
Or in Latin.....
Qui cum canibus concumbunt cum pulicibus surgent.
This adage has been attributed to Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanack and the Latin said to be written by Seneca.
Manny and I have been bedmates since our odyssey began, he vying for space on my heated bed mat. However, that has come to an end since a morning brushing out of my hair produced the beastie in this photo.
Ixodes scapularis or
Black-legged tick or deer tick
Identified by both the solid colour of her scapula(shield over her body) and black legs, she is fully engorged so has eaten a meal from one of us.
Her fate? To have a moment of fame in flash photography and then be flushed into our black water tank.
Goodbye Ixodes. May you not have been infected with Lyme disease.
